Introducing our Organization:
Kécenlét Association was created as an initiative of the Reformed Church from Chet village with the mission to support the local community. Its’ legal representative s also the minister of the church. The NGO was created in order to be able to access specific funding, both at national and international level.
The purposes of the association, as started in its’ statue, are:
- Initiation, organization and development of culture, social, educational, sports programmes
- Organization of camps, seminars, training courses
- Organizational support for tourism related activities.
- Social support to the poor
- Organization of information telecentre, a cultural-entertainment-recreational centre that will contribute to the moral, economic and cultural development of the village
- Support and development of intellectual infrastructure
- Provision of proper training and education framework for youth and adults
- Scholarship
- Representing and supporting the interests of youth in Romania
Activities carried:
a. Non-formal education and counseling for children and young people affected by poverty, especially Roma:
- Before and After-School: assistance of children and young people doing homework for school dropout prevention, counseling, provision of hot meals, etc. Daily, there are between 60 and 80 children aged 6 to 14 that participate in activities.
- Motivation of children and young people to complete at least primary and secondary school
- Helping students to enroll in school or university
- Social integration, including counseling for preventing and correcting deviant behavior, alcohol consumption etc., and activities with their families.
b. Regular distribution of material resourced for old people affected by poverty
c. Distribution of clothes and food for Roma people affected by poverty
d. Youth activities:
- Summer camps for life skills development
- Youth clubs (e.g. bible study)
- Contests, etc.
